KINSHASA — FINCA DRC has taken part in a significant strategic forum aimed at enhancing the business environment in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, reinforcing its role as a key partner in the country’s economic transformation.
Earlier this month, Mirela Pekmezi, CEO of FINCA DR Congo, participated in the high‑level reflection forum convened under the patronage of the President of the Republic and organised in partnership with the U.S. Embassyand the American Chamber of Commerce. Strengthening Economic Ties and Private Sector Confidence
FINCA’s presence at this strategic forum highlights the institution’s commitment not only to financial inclusion but also to broader economic reforms and international cooperation. The event’s agenda focused on identifying challenges and opportunities within the local business landscape, especially in the context of ongoing efforts by the Congolese government to attract foreign direct investment and strengthen public‑private dialogue.
By participating, FINCA underscored its active support for initiatives that promote a more inclusive, competitive and resilient economic environment — particularly one that enables small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) to grow. Its involvement also reflects a growing collaboration between Congolese institutions and international partners such as the United States and AmCham, aimed at improving conditions for business and community development.

Operating over 20 branches and supported by more than 1,700 agent points nationwide, FINCA DRC has helped hundreds of thousands of Congolese gain access to formal financial services — a crucial step towards economic inclusion in a country where access to finance remains limited.
Globally, FINCA International is recognised as one of the pioneers of modern microfinance. Established in 1984, the organisation’s mission is to end poverty through sustainable financial solutions that build economic resilience and enable individuals and communities to shape their own futures.
A Collaborative Path Forward
The strategic forum provided a platform for dialogue on economic reforms, investment promotion and public‑private partnerships. Such discussions are integral to the DRC’s broader agenda of improving competitiveness and encouraging responsible investment — efforts that are increasingly supported by international partners like the United States and the American Chamber of Commerce.
FINCA’s participation signals its ongoing dedication to these shared goals, reinforcing its role not only as a financial services provider but also as a stakeholder in shaping a stronger and more inclusive economic future for the DRC.
